First "Big Boy" swim lesson

Quinn has had several "Big Boy" moments lately.  He can go up the stairs one foot over the other (as long as we ask him to go up like a big boy), and he can put on his jacket by himself with a cool over-the-head maneuver his OT showed us.  Hmmm...maybe I should take a video of that and post it!  Anyway, tonight was his first swim lesson where I didn't have to be in the water with him. It took him a minute to warm up (literally and figuratively), but he wound up doing well.

These two are going to be great buddies (and a handful of trouble for Ms. Jules!)

Poland Day!

Reason number 1,574 why we love Quinn's daycare provider.  And I really need to stop calling it "daycare" because it is definitely preschool.  Let me explain: Quinn and I made pierogis this weekend:

The theme at daycare this month is "It's a Small World" and they've been learning about travel and different cultures.  I decided to send in some pierogis (and smietana, of course) so the kids could try them.  With my mom's help, we found some videos of kid's songs in Polish.  I also sent Quinn's Polish kid's book in so the children could see that some of the letters look different in Polish.  Not only did Ms. Shryl do all of these things, but she took it a step further by Googling the best way to reheat the pierogis (fried in butter, of course!), pointing out Poland on the map, and printing out these for the kids to color:

Ski weekend!

Two weekends ago we made our annual ski trip to Hidden Valley with our wonderful friends.  It was COLD.  Wind chills were 10-20 below zero the first night we were there.  In spite of the cold, my 6 year-old Godson tackled blue slopes!  And his 3 year-old sister skied! Quinn and I stuck to sleds and snow angels.  And we loved every minute!

He made this face a lot that weekend

The snow was deep!

We went to watch Caleb and Emma ski, but it was so cold we didn't stay long!

There goes Caleb!

Kid's night

We went out with some friends for dinner a few Sundays ago.  Turns out kids eat free at Dickey's on Sundays, and in the evenings, they have free face painting for the kids!  I was really surprised that Quinn sat still for the whole thing, but then again, it was Curious George, the only thing he will sit still for.
